Calling All Nancy Bishop Pottery Collectors!
Do you own a piece of Nancy Bishop’s pottery? If so Berryville Main Street may want to borrow it for a special display in its upcoming pottery show at the Fire House Gallery: Made by Hand: Celebrating Pottery and Master Potter, Nancy Bishop.
The show, which opens Friday, April 13 and runs through Saturday, May 5th, will showcase the work of its many fine potters and include a special exhibit of Bishop’s signature porcelain pieces. This remarkable artist is retiring after 50 years, twenty-eight of them spent at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia. During that time Bishop has perfected the art of pottery-making as well as advancing it -- creating new designs, new shapes and even a new chromium glaze called “Ruby” chromium, which she debuted in 1994. This deep, brilliant red adorns many of her most coveted pieces owned by collectors around the world.
By viewing her work, exhibit goers will gain an appreciation for the skill required to produce world-class pottery -- and for the artist working at the very top of her form. If you are willing to loan a piece of Bishop’s pottery to the show email info@firehousegallery.com.
