Pam Singer
Paintings
Pam Singer, a retired flight attendant, ski instructor since 1995, and resident of Winchester has always been creative in three dimensional art. She's worked with pottery, silver, fabric, and even floral design. Painting was a mystery to her until she took drawing classes at Lord Fairfax Community College with Professor Ann Currie and was given a gift of oil paints. As she started to work with the paints, she realized that she loved the texture of oil on brush and canvas, and the vibrancy and flexibility of color, she even liked the smell.
Much of Pam's work takes its inspiration from the huge folder of photographs that she's taken in her travels and a collection of ideas from magazines, books, and other artists. She enjoys using complimentary colors in conjunction because it makes the work vibrate with brightness. Her favorite painting is "Virginia Landscape," a warmly toned painting of the sun setting over a baled hay field.
